Check out this sign, spotted at the local library in Westwood, NJ.

The library is taking advantage of Eli Manning’s popularity in the area (largely a Giants fan base), and the fact that he reads the book Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse to his daughter to help draw in new customers.

Celebrity endorsements and tying celebrities to a product you sell has always been a great way to create demand. This local library is certainly showing some marketing savvy by using this method. Given the well documented decline of the public library, this is a great way for them to reach a new customer base and create some buzz.

How can you tie a celebrity to your business or product to draw in new customers?
